Christmas BLOG!!!!

Hi BLOG,
I'm a lazy blogger...maybe I'll try harder in 2008. People have such wonderful blogs. Well, I have Alex here for Christmas what a joy. I remember when Ambie was my Christmas baby. I love being silly and letting them fix my hair into pig tails, baking cookies, laughing all night, watching cartoons and so on.
**I havent bought any new fabric to speak of lately. So that is a non issue for now. I made Alex a neck scarf out of fleece but I think I made it too narrow, we'll see when we go for a walk if it's warm at all..

Slow Sunday

Went to an art show and saw paintings of trees, mountains, country and listened to a flute player. A non-Native American, she has studied with some well known flutists that are. She's having a class which includes purchasing a flute!

Hi Bloggie,
Wow things have changed a bit since I last wrote. I have cut down to only purchasing a small amount of fabric!
Enough of that subject. Here is a work in progress. Notice the tip of my polka dot ironing board cover. This one actually only has about a half hour of work left since most of the border is already on. I love royal blue with turquoise next to it. Pleasing to the eye. And obviously, I love bright colors.
See you next time!

Fabric buying addiction

The problem is buying too much. Why? Because the manufacturers discontinue a line so quickly that if you don't get it then, you'll never see it again. And sometimes you don't have enough to finish a project. And sometimes it's just so stunningly pretty that you feel like you MUST have it, yet you don't want to cut into it because it's one of a kind and you'll never see it again.

Or it's on sale. And you might as well get plenty of it. And put it away because if you cut it it will be gone forever.

I have collected fabric with these themes and in these sizes:

  • cat fabric
  • polka dots
  • roses
  • tea cups
  • horses
  • black and white
  • shades of purple
  • other florals
  • fat quarters
  • fleece
  • feathers
  • birds
  • small calico prints
  • hudson bay type stripes
  • Native American designs
  • solids
  • yellows
  • chickens
  • stars
  • 5 inch charms
  • 4 inch charms
  • bolts

and so on. I have them and can't bear to use them. I'm just examining my problem now, seriously. I shop:

  • online (ebay or quilt stores nationwide.)
  • at fine quilt stores
  • at Jo Ann Fabrics
  • Walmart
  • Hancocks
  • yard sales

and so on. I wasn't this bad until now, now that I don't have a direction in life to create and now that I feel so alone and anxious.

I love fabric and I am in a bottomless pit of wanting more and more.

Later..

Writing late at night....not the best idea, I'm likely to be negative. But I won't pretend that I'm not usually.

I did get something done

Well, I finally DID something. But I hate flogging myself for not doing something quilty. I think the pressure comes from looking at fabric, quilt magazines, quilt books, quilts made in online groups (including mine) and from having a computer, phone and tv to distract me. I mean I spend soooo much time doing all these things and not sewing. It's overwelming to me to have piles of unfinished projects, piles of gorgeous fabric too pretty to cut into, etc.

But the hardest thing of all is not having any one to support and encourage me, I mean in person. And I mean someone who is gone now, forever.

My sisters are supportive but not nearby.

But to be positive....I did get enough triangles on a roll pinned to make 96 half sq triangles. I only have to sew them now. The other thing is that I did some beading too.
This picture by the way isn't what i worked on, this is something I did long ago.
Well off to bed and dreams.

My very first blog

Well um, hello all (and self). I haven't decided what to say or blog about. But quilty thoughts and photos will be the main topic. It is what I have made of myself. In younger days I wrote, drew, painted, and then beaded. Now I make quilts and have other crafts I do on the side.
Right now? I'm in a deep pit of procrastination...I'm not getting much done and I was thinking.....maybe I've timed out!!!!!
I was thinking that writing might organize my thoughts a little.
